Distributed Denial of Service attack |
|
A hacker (hackers) break into servers at
"innocent" sites or computers (may be home PC), turning
them into "zombies" that can be controlled remotely. Then,
the hacker (hackers) spoof a target's IP address, sending an email
to the "zombie" servers (computers). Emails trigger a
commend for zombie servers to ping the target, causing the target
site to be overwhelmed. The target site which will soon be unable to
service legitimate requests from its users. A compromised Web site
that is used as an attack launch point is known as a zombie. |
